We are very happy to announce that our keynote speaker at ‘Water For A Thirsty Land’ next March will be Lloyd Cooke from Saltbox:
Lloyd Cooke has been the Chief Executive of Saltbox for over 20 years.
Saltbox is a charity in Stoke-on-Trent that provides support for local churches, Christian ministries and faith groups. It organises many united Christian prayer and missions initiatives plus events such as the annual Stoke-on-Trent Civic Prayer Breakfast. Saltbox also provides three local caring services seeking to aid vulnerable people – Restart (ex-offenders), Carelink (elderly people) and Money Matters (debt).
Lloyd’s earlier work career began with Michelin as a business administration apprentice, followed by a period in regional sales. He also worked in marketing and sales for the Sentinel newspaper.
Lloyd is also the chair of a number of other bodies including Stoke Healthwatch, North Staffs Voluntary Sector Chief Officers’ Group and Ministry at Work (Business Chaplaincy). His former roles include being a non-executive director for S-o-T NHS Primary Care Trust and a member of S-o-T Governance Transition Board.
Lloyd has been a fully accredited Methodist Lay Preacher since 1985 and worships at the Potters Church (Methodist) in Stoke-on-Trent where he is a member of Church Leadership Team and chairs the Church Council.
Lloyd’s passion is to see the “sacred and secular” worlds work in closer partnership and he spends much time engaging as a Christian leader with agencies in the public sector and the wider voluntary and community sectors. He is a national advisor for the Cinnamon Network, the World Prayer Centre in Birmingham and for the Evangelical Alliance’s Gather Network.
Lloyd is widowed, having lost his wife, Niki, to cancer in 2017. He has a daughter, Holly. He is a life-long Stoke City fan and believes that God answers prayer!
